Este año no paramos; después de México y Budapest tocaba Shanghai, un viaje de trabajo de mi marido al que, por supuesto, me he apuntado.
This year we do not stop; after Mexico and Budapest came Shanghai, a business trip by my husband. And, of course, I went with him.
Nunca había estado en China, así que no puedo valorar el país desde la experiencia de conocer Shanghai, una ciudad enorme, con veinticuatro millones de habitantes, y por tanto, con una idiosincrasia propia. Pero es muy posible que en lo más impactante, los contrastes entre riqueza y pobreza y modernidad y antigüedad, coincida con el resto de China.
It had never been in China before, so I cannot value the country just from the experience of visiting Shanghai, a huge city, with twenty-four million inhabitants, and therefore, with an own idiosyncrasy. But it is very possible that, in the most striking thing, the contrasts between wealth and poverty and modernity and antiquity, coincides with the rest of China.

El río Huangpu divide Shanghai en dos distritos: Pudong y Puxi. En Puxi la ciudad conserva el legado del primer distrito comercial de Shanghai mientras que Pudong ofrece la visión más moderna de la ciudad. Allí subimos al Shanghai Tower, el segundo edificio más alto del mundo, desde cuyo piso 121 disfrutamos de unas vistas impresionantes.
The river Huangpu divides Shanghai in two districts: Pudong and Puxi. In Puxi the city preserves the legacy of Shanghais first commercial district, whereas Pudong offers the most modern vision of the city. There we climbed Shanghai Tower, the second highest in the world, from whose 121st floor we enjoyed amazing sights.

El tráfico mantiene un "caos ordenado" con sus propias normas de circulación y me pareció que había más bicicletas y motos -eléctricas, por cierto- que coches. Sin casco, cargando mercancía o niños, usando sombrillas,... los conductores son realmente habilidosos.
The traffic supports an "orderly chaos" with its own traffic rules and I think there were more bicycles and motorcycles -electric, certainly- than cars. Wearing no helmet, loading goods or children, using parasols... the drivers are really capable.

En el centro de Shanghai perdura la ciudad antigua, el barrio Nanshi, donde se encuentran el tempo del Buda de Jade y el magnífico Jardín Yuyuan, rodeado por la Muralla de los Cinco Dragones.
In the center of Shanghai the old city remains, Nanshi neighbourhood, with the Jade Buddha Temple and the magnificent Yuyuan Garden, surrounded by the Five Dragons Wall.
El Jardín Yuyuan es otra muestra de los contrastes de esta ciudad pues los jardines mantienen una paz que convive con el bullicio de la zona comercial y de ocio que los rodean.
Yuyuan Garden is another sample of this citys contrasts as the gardens keep a peace that coexists with the hustle of the commercial and leisure district which surround them.
Hay todo tipo de sitios para comer: puestos callejeros, cadenas de comida rápida o auténticos restaurantes chinos. Nosotros nos divertimos en este "mega comedor" cercano a los jardines de Yuyuan eligiendo con los ojos casi cerrados, ¡a la aventura!
There are all kinds of places to eat: street stalls, fast food chains or real Chinese restaurants. We had fun in this big dining area near Yuyuan Garden choosing almost with eyes shut.
Una visita imprescindible para mi es el templo Jingan, no muy grande en comparación con otros pero encantador, formado por un conjunto de preciosos edificios de madera. Resulta un remanso de paz en medio de la ciudad.
A must-see is Jingan Temple, not so big in comparison with others, but it is a charming place, made up of a set of beautiful wooden buildings. It is a haven of peace in the middle of the city.
En el distrito de Puxi se sitúa Najing Road, la calle más comercial de Shanghai. Vale la pena pasear por ella a última hora de la tarde para disfrutarla de día y de noche.
In Puxis district is Najing Road, the most commercial street of Shanghai. It is worth walking along in the late afternoon to enjoy it by day and by night.
Desde allí llegamos al Bund, nombre con el que bautizaron los británicos al malecón de Shanghai. A finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX fue un importante centro financiero y conserva impresionantes edificios coloniales. Ahora es una zona peatonal de aproximadamente 1,5 kilómetros que recorre la parte oeste del Río Huangpu y desde donde se disfrutan unas espectaculares vistas del distrito de Pudong.
From there we arrived to the Bund, the name British gave to Shanghais river front. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century it was an important financial center and preserves impressive colonial buildings. Now it is a pedestrian zone of approximately
