Ciudad Rodrigo ha sido nombrado como uno de “Los pueblos más bonitos de España” por ser uno de los municipios más turísticos de la provincia salmantina ademas de por la singular arquitectura, mantenimiento de su fiestas, tradiciones y costumbres.

Cruce de caminos y lugar fronterizo con Portugal por ella ha pasado el comercio durante años y han tenido lugar mil batallas incluido el asedio de la tropa napoleónica.
Todo esto sumado al gran esplendor que tuvo durante los siglos XV y XVI nos ha legado un gran patrimonio amurallado de espléndidos palacios e Iglesias que la hacen imprescindible en tu lista de sitios para visitar.

Nos suena muy antigua porque falta todavía un siglo para que nazca Bach, y en su época barroca asiente los pilares de toda la música que llegaría hasta nuestros días.

Imagine you are in the living room of one of the magnificent palaces of Ciudad Rodrigo in the sixteenth century. This is the Renaissance music youd be listening. It sounds very old because still missing a century to be born Bach, and its Baroque nods the pillars of all music would come to this day.

En ella se encuentra el Ayuntamiento del siglo XVI y estilo renacentista. En 1903 se añadió el ala de la derecha.

Los palacios y casas solariegas construidos en su mayoría en el siglo XV y XVI, muchos de estilo renacentista, se encuentran a lo largo de las calles del casco antiguo como testigos intemporales del poder económico y el señorío que tuvo la ciudad en su época de mayor apogeo.

La más destacada de las iglesias de la Catedral de Santa María del siglo XII al XIV. Iniciada bajo el reinado de Fernando II de León es de estilo románico en transición al gótico.

Dada la situación de la ciudad fronteriza con Portugal ésta constituyó un bastión guerrero con necesidades defensivas para sus habitante. Las murallas comenzaron a ser construidas por Fernando II de León en el siglo XII y tienen más de dos kilómetros de perímetro con 8 puertas. En el siglo XVIII se construyeron los baluartes exteriores en forma de dientes de sierra en piedra arenisca.

Como en toda la provincia de Salamanca los exquisitos jamones y embutidos son el principal atractivo gastronómico.
La especialidad típica de la cocina son los huevos fritos con farinato, que es un embutido elaborado con miga de pan, grasa de cerdo, pimentón y especias que posee "Denominación de Origen". También destacan las patatas meneás, la chanfaina y el hornazo (especie de empanada rellena de embutidos, que se suele comer en el campo el "Lunes de Aguas"). En la repostería sobresalen las perronillas, los mantecados, el bollo maimón o rosca, que es un bollo utilizado en celebraciones familiares como bodas, comuniones y bautizos, el repelao: dulce con almendras y sabor parecido al mazapán,las floretas y las obleas elaboradas con harina, huevos, leche y anises, originariamente eran fabricadas en los conventos.
As the rest of the province of Salamanca exquisite hams and sausages are the main gastronomic attraction.
The typical cuisine specialty are farinato fried eggs, a sausage made with breadcrumbs, pork fat, paprika and spices that has "Appellation of origin". Also highlights the patatas meneás, chanfaina and hornazo (sort of pie filled with sausages, which are usually eaten in the field the "Lunes de Aguas"). In the pastry stand perronillas, the butter, the maimón muffin or thread, which is used in a bun family celebrations such as weddings, communions and baptisms, the repelao: sweet with almonds and marzipan-like flavor, the floretas and wafers made with flour, eggs, milk and anise originally were made in convents.

Para los lectores que no son de España os diré que existe una red de hoteles que comercializa el Estado español situados en los lugares más emblemáticos, turísticos y bonitos de España. Son llamados Paradores. Casi todos ellos han sido construidos gracias a la rehabilitación de antiguos monasterios, castillos y palacios. Las habitaciones y la calidad de la comida es excelente ya que tienen categoría de cuatro o cinco estrellas e incluyen la gastronomía local en su carta.
Para los lectores españoles no hacen falta explicaciones porque son de sobra conocidos.
For readers who are not from Spain I will say that there is a network of hotels which markets the Spanish State situated in the most emblematic and beautiful tourist areas of Spain. They are called Paradores. Almost all of them have been built thanks to the refurbishment of old monasteries, castles and palaces. Rooms and food quality is excellent as rank as four or five star and include the local cuisine in your menu.
For Spanish readers no need for explanations because they are well known.

Ciudad Rodrigo es uno de los lugares donde podemos encontrar uno de estos bellos Paradores, esta vez construido dentro del castillo de Enrique II construido en 1372, perfectamente restaurado donde podemos entrar para visitarlo y degustar la carta de su restaurante aunque no estemos alojados como en el resto de los paradores

Ciudad Rodrigo is one of the places where we can find one of these beautiful Paradores, this time built into the castle of Henry II built in 1372, perfectly restored where we can come to visit and taste the menu of his restaurant although we are not housed such as in the rest of paradores.
