Lux Series is one of my all-time favorite series and JLA has been one of my go-to authors for a very long time, finding out about this new spin-off was a pleasant surprise, especially since the lead guy is none other than my favorite Origin, Luc. JLA writing style has always speaks to me, not only I was able to enjoy her wonderful imagination through her characters, plots and setting but also, I learned English by reading her books. The Darkest Star wasnt an exception and I felt like I was hanging out with an old, funny and exciting friend!

The Darkest Star is set four years after the Luxen came to Earth, and the humans find out that were not alone. Those who stay in the planet are highly monitored and humans want to keep them elsewhere, except for one night club where it doesnt matter who you are or where you come from, youll accepted. Evie, a human, found herself there meeting a mysterious guy with striking amethyst eyes and an ego as big as the universe, wholl open a can full of secrets and lies ripping her world apart.

La serie Lux es una de mis series favoritas de todos los tiempos y JLA ha sido uno de mis autores favoritos también. Enterarme de este nuevo spin-off fue una agradable sorpresa, especialmente porque el protagonista no es otro que mi Origin favorito, Luc. Los libros de JLA siempre me encantaron, no solo pude disfrutar de su maravillosa imaginación a través de sus personajes y tramas, sino que también aprendí inglés con ellos. The Darkest Star no fue la excepción ¡y sentí que estaba visitando a un divertido y emocionante viejo amigo!

Veterans Lux fans know some about Origins but to those that dont know, theyre the offspring of Luxen (an alien race that have live among humans after their planet was destroyed) and a hybrid (a human organically mutated with alien DNA). Luc is said to be the strongest, the smarter and the most scary of them all, and those of us who meet him in the Lux series knows hes the mafia itself. Its so good to have him back creating havoc and fighting the system.

JLA female leads are always strong girls that grow to become great young women. Evie is a likeable, sweet girl that sees her world crumbling down after meeting Luc, and started to unveil all the secrets around her. I connected with her and her reactions felt so real for me having in consideration all the things that was on her plate.

Los fanáticos de veteranos de Lux saben algo sobre los Origins, pero para aquellos que no saben, ellos son la descendencia de Luxen (una raza alienígena que ha vivido entre los humanos después de que su planeta fue destruido) y un híbrido (un humano mutado orgánicamente con ADN alienígena). Se dice que Luc es el más fuerte, el más inteligente y el más temible de todos, y quienes lo conocimos en la serie Lux sabemos que él es la mafia en sí misma. Es tan bueno tenerlo de vuelta creando estragos y luchando contra el sistema.

Las chicas que JLA escriben son siempre fuertes que crecen para convertirse en grandes mujeres jóvenes. Evie es una simpática y dulce chica que ve cómo su mundo se derrumba después de conocer a Luc y comienza a revelar todos los secretos a su alrededor. Me conecté con ella y sus reacciones me parecieron tan reales teniendo en cuenta todas las cosas que había en su plato.

Overall, I like this book pretty much, I think it was a fantastic start for a new series that already have an establishing world and hardcore fans, The only reason why Im giving it 4 stars is because, although I think the story unfold consciously well and, for the most part, in a fluidity rhythm, I felt the end a little too rushed. Still, I cant wait for the next installment, especially after the cryptic interview JLA gave to Goodreads (plus part of chapter 1 reveal!!). October is so far away for my taste.En general, me gusto mucho este libro, creo que fue un comienzo fantástico para una nueva serie que ya cuenta con un mundo establecido y fanáticos incondicionales. La única razón por la que le doy 4 estrellas es porque, aunque creo que la historia se desarrolla conscientemente bien y, en su mayor parte, en un ritmo fluido, sentí el final demasiado apresurado. Aún así, no puedo esperar por la próxima entrega, especialmente después de la entrevista críptica que JLA le dio a Goodreads (¡más parte del capítulo 1!). Octubre está tan lejos para mi gusto.
