Synopsis

My Thoughts

I never intented to read this book before; Im a huge fan of Katies Dragon Septs series and Dark One series but her other works didnt appeal to me, thats because I tried few of them and they were not as good as those I already know. However, after knowing she was re-releasing her first books, I take another look to this “standalone” novel and I found out it was featured at the same supernatural world she so well has created. So, I need to read it ASAP, and I only can say Im sad I didnt read it before.

Ghost of a Chance is the story of Karma Marx, a paranormal exterminator. She takes Otherworldly identities and send them to the Akasha plane (which is common on Katie MacAlister books) or takes them to her place until theyre ready to move on. Her nasty husband, Spider, ask her to clean up a new house hes trying gain profit from, but once she arrived, she found out Adam (the former owner and poltergeist) who doesnt have the intention to leave. Once Spider is found death in the basement, she find herself immerse into a mystery solving the crime of her husband, where everybody is a suspect.

THE GOOD

Katie always surprise me with her witty, entertaining and sexy stories, and she didnt disappoint this time. Karma was exactly like I expect from any of her other remarkable female characters, she is so funny when even she doesnt intent to but also she is very down to earth and determinate to solve the crime of her husband murder. I believe that my favorite thing about this book was twists of the developing, I absolutely didnt expect the result of it all and I am very happy with it. I also like very much how Katie manage the romance into this story, she didnt rushed it but she hitted here and there of something that could quite develop into a epic love story.

THE BAD

I believe that at the end of the novel things were getting little too rushed to wrap it up, which makes me belieave that this book needed more explanation and a little more detailes to solve the mystery.

OVERALL, I really enjoy this book so much. Almost every aspect of it was perfecttion, for me the only thing that lacks is a proper wrapping, but for the rest, it was one of the most funny and entertaining books Ive read this year. My only concern is the fact that it is a standalone and I need more of Karma, Adam and Pixie. I wish Katie take the time to write a new book for this series because I definitely will read it.

Despite her love for novels, she didnt think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software.
