My Thoughts

Ill be honest with you for a minute: I never cared about Willow and Garrison before; I saw them growing on the sidelines during the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series, but I never thought much about their relationship or wanted to know more about them, but now Im delighted. This also happened to me with the Aerial Ethereal series, I only read the books because I had already read the other contemporary romances by K&B and they were the last ones that I had left to pick up, however, I didnt have great expectations, but I ended up loving them anyway. This time, after I began to feel a little disappointed with the latest installments of the Like Us series, Whatever It Takes brought back the standards by which I fell in love with the Ritchie books in the first place and made me believe in their talent as writers again.

I am glad that K&B tried different writing styles with their books, in this case, they divided the chapters between past and present; The Past included the Wattpad chapters that the girls had published before, which told the story of how they met during high school and how their friendship developed thanks to comics, video games and Tumblr. While the Present explores their long-distance romantic relationship and all the complications involved, given the different situations in which they find themselves in.

Mi Opinión

Voy a ser honesto con ustedes por un minuto, nunca me importó Willow y Garrison antes; Los ví crecer al margen durante las series Addicted/Calloway Sisters, pero nunca pensé mucho en su relación ni quise saber más sobre ellos, pero ahora estoy encantada. Esto también me sucedió con la serie Aerial Ethereal, solo leí los libros porque ya había leído los otros romances contemporáneos de K&B y eran los últimos que me quedaban por tomar, sin embargo, no tenía grandes expectativas, pero terminé amándolos de todos modos. Esta vez, después de que comencé a sentirme un poco decepcionada con las últimas entregas de la serie Like Us, Whatever It Takes trajo de vuelta los estándares por los que me enamoré de los libros de las Ritchie en primer lugar y me ha creer en su talento como escritores nuevamente.

Me alegra que K&B intenten diferentes estilos de escritura con sus libros, en este caso, dividieron los capítulos entre pasado y presente; el pasado incluye los capítulos de Wattpad que las chicas habían publicado antes, que relataban la historia de cómo se conocieron durante la escuela secundaria, cómo se desarrolló su amistad gracias a los cómics, videojuegos y Tumblr. Mientras el Presente explora su relación romántica a larga distancia y toda la complicación que conlleva, dada las diferentes situaciones en las que se encuentran.

After reading this book, I came with the conclusion that K&B create their best work when they write about broken characters in search of redemption. Theres a reason why Garrison is said to be a bad boy; hes introduced as a neighbor of the Calloway sister and their significant others, playing pranks and terrorizing them, but a certain event served as a wake-up call for him to try to mend his life for good, which put him in the path of Willow. By other hand, Willow is a barely seventeen years old shy, clumsy and comics geek that found out some revealing family news that made her embark on search for the truth in Philadelphia and becoming the unlikely friend of Garrison Abbey.

Their relationship started as a slow-burning thing, establishing trust and comfort to the point of which they reminded me of Lily and Lo. But when LiLo had a toxic, enabling relationship, Willow & Garrisons is more about helping each other to overcome their fears and face their demons. And thats what this book is all about, friendship, love, trust and support, where two very unlikely people bond over broken hearts and difficulties, and end up having one epic love story.

Después de leer este libro, llegué a la conclusión de que K&B crean su mejor trabajo cuando escriben sobre personajes rotos en busca de redención. Hay una razón por la cual se dice que Garrison es un chico malo; se lo presenta como vecino de la hermana Calloway y sus seres queridos, que les hace bromas y aterroriza, pero luego de un determinado evento, que sirvió como un llamado de atención, intenta reparar su vida, lo que lo pone en el camino de Willow. Por otro lado, Willow es una chica amante de los comics tímida y torpe de apenas diecisiete años que descubre algunas noticias familiares que la llevan en una búsqueda por la verdad a Filadelfia, terminando como la improbable amiga de Garrison Abbey.

Su relación comenzó como algo lento, estableciendo confianza y confort hasta el punto de que me recordaron a Lily y Lo. Pero cuando LiLo tenían una relación tóxica y permisiva, la de Willow & Garrison es más sobre ayudarse mutuamente a superar sus miedos y enfrentar a sus demonios. Y de eso se trata este libro, de la amistad, el amor, la confianza y el apoyo, donde dos personas muy diferentes entre sí se vuelven cercanas por corazones rotos y dificultades, y terminan teniendo una historia de amor épica.

Overall, Im SO happy to be back in the Core 6 timeline, to read certain scenes and events I didnt know before, or some of those I did but from a different point of view. Willow and Garrison are a delightful couple to read about, and I cant wait to read the next installment of the Bad Reputation Duet in order to know more about these two. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
En general, estoy tan feliz de estar de vuelta en la línea temporal del Core 6, ver ciertas escenas y eventos que no conocía antes o algunos de los que conocí, pero desde un punto de vista diferente. Willow y Garrison son una pareja encantadora sobre la que leer, y no puedo esperar por la próxima entrega de Bad Reputation Duet para saber más sobre estos dos. ¡Lo recomiendo de todo el corazón!
