No existe un sólo día en el Camino de Santiago donde no encuentres a alguien sorprendente. Y para eso no existe edad ni circunstancia.
There isn"t a day on the Camino where you don"t find someone amazing. And I believe there are no age limits or circumstance for this.
Erika es canadiense pero vive en Viena, apenas habla castellano pero la lucidez con la que se expresa en inglés es muy sugerente. A sus 85 años lleva más de 12 caminos a sus espaldas, todos ellos en esta última etapa de su vida. Camina sola, apenas 5 larguísimos kilómetros al día, intensos, memorables, motivantes...
La encontramos en el Albergue de Carmen, un lugar que tiene imán para los peregrinos más auténticos. «Este año he salido más tarde, suelo hacerlo en Abril» ?susurraba Erika. Su marido había fallecido recientemente y tuvo que postergar su salida en esta ocasión.
En Mayo el Camino Francés está más transitado, y se quedó sin sitio en el albergue siguiente. Nada parecía ya turbar su magnífico ánimo, sentada frente al valle planea su siguiente etapa, toma notas, lee, y de vez en cuando, levanta la vista sonriendo por cada intenso momento que le queda por vivir.

Erika is Canadian but she lives in Vienna, she barely speaks Spanish but the way in which she voiced in English is very evocative. She did more than 12 Caminos at her 85 years old, all of them at this late stage. She barely walks alone 5 long kilometres per day, intense, unforgettable, motivating...
We found her at the Albergue of Carmen, a place which has a magnet for genuine pilgrims. «I have gone out this year later, I usually do it in April» ?Erika whispered. Her husband had recently died and she had to postpone her Camino on this occasion.
The Camino Francés is the most travelled path in May, and she couldn"t find accommodation for the next stage. Nothing disturbed her wonderful mood, she was sat in front of the valley planning her next stage, taking notes, reading, and when her eyes raised up she smiled for each moment in the days ahead.
