The small village of Portomarín has its history under the bed of the Miño river. Its present is in the slopes of the Monte do Cristo.

In spite of the intense cold, a pilgrim of Korea went through the bridge that it appears on the foundations of the Roman. We passed, and I gave a hint of a smile. It has always touched me to know that people of such remote places, go into the Camino de Santiago. As the pilgrim I met from Australia.

At the other side, the new Portomarín greeted him from its safe hill. Many of its buildings, its church had been included too, were saved from the reservoir, stone by stone, transferring them to higher places.
