Llegamos al cuarto y último viernes del mes y como siempre, hoy nos toca presentar el segmento musical dedicado a un tema musical del cuarteto sueco ABBA. Y precisamente, mañana sábado 25 está cumpliendo 70 años, BJORN ULVAEUS, el genio letrista de ABBA, y es motivo para incluir un tema cantado por él, como ya se ha hecho en años anteriores. En la presente ocasión, he querido elegir un buen tema del álbum "THE VISITORS": "Two For The Prize Of One". Recuerdo que una noche, allá por 1982, en Canal 4 pasaron un especial de ABBA, y con temas del que era su último album "THE VISITORS". Y allí pude ver por primera vez los videos de "One Of Us" y "When All Is Said And Done" en su versión original y también la presentación de ABBA en un show de televisión, que en ese momento, no tenía ni la menor idea de cuál era y que después supe que era el show "Dick Cavett Meets ABBA". Allí escuché por primera vez dos canciones del álbum "THE VISITORS": la balada "Slipping Through My Fingers" y "Two For The Prize Of One". La primera ya ha desfilado en esta sección musical, y en cuanto a la segunda, me gustó bastante por su ritmo y la muy buena interpretación de Bjorn, muy bien secundado por Agnetha y Frida en los coros. Pero, tuvo que pasar muchos años para que la volviera a escuchar y me quedara totalmente encantado con esa canción.

"Two For The Price Of One" fue escrita y producida por Benny Andersson y Bjorn Ulvaeus. Fue grabada el 16 de Marzo de 1981 en la primera sesión del "THE VISITORS" ?junto con los temas "Slipping Through my Fingers" y When All Is Said And Done"-, y fue la tercera canción en ser grabada e incluida como álbum track del "THE VISITORS". El tema era de ritmo alegre, cuya letra contaba la historia de un hombre solitario que lee un anuncio clasificado, y se fija que el aviso invitaba a llamar para conseguir dos chicas por el precio de una. En cuanto a su performance en vivo, al no haber gira promocional del "THE VISITORS", nunca fue interpretada por el cuarteto en concierto. Sin embargo, la canción fue estrenada en el show "Dick Cavett Meets ABBA", que fue un especial para la TV que incluyó una entrevista al grupo así como una performance en vivo del cuarteto con temas de su nuevo álbum. Las entrevistas se grabaron el 27 de abril de 1981 y las performances musicales entre el 28 y el 29 de abril y fue estrenada en la TV sueca el 12 de setiembre de 1981 y el 4 de Diciembre de 1981 en Alemania. Sin duda, el estilo musical de esta canción encajaba con estilo predominante en el álbum, con un sonido más moderno y con letras más maduras. Hasta el próximo mes de Mayo, en donde tendremos un tema de ABBA de la década del 70. Será hasta el viernes 29 de Mayo. Hasta entonces.
